Yikes, Is Any Brand Safe

Passcost1_1Passcost2_1Talk about citizen marketers on the rampage.  Controversial artist-come -guerrilla media activist Fauxreel attempts to take two brands down at the same time - Stella Artois and Shell - in a  hijacked ad in our own backyard of Toronto.

It certainly got the interest of
the bloggers and the even appeared in the national press.

I won't comment on the ethics or creative value of what's been done here but it does prove a point of consumer generated media getting noticed.

I also agree with some of the blog chatter - there are plenty of brands that deserve the cynicism - why hijack a premium beer brand doing some of the best marketing in Canada.

As a sidebar - I personally believe outdoor is a pretty strong exposure medium for captive audiences but you have to wonder how some of his other defamed billbaords (as mentioned in the article) have stayed up for as long as 16 days.
