Sharing Updated Link Love with the Canadian Blogosphere
"Happiness is the china shop, love is the bull" H. L. Mencken
Apologies, I've shown a blatant lack of love for Canucks that I think have smart things to say about the marketing, social media and word of mouth in the blogosphere by not linking to them. I feel obligated to finally share the link love - you will see as of today updated Canuck links on Buzz Canuck.
Although being a somewhat needy blogger - I only check my traffic results 3 times a week honest - there is no prerequisite here to link back, although of course it would be appreciated. Think of myself as a taller, blonder, male version of Sally Field after receiving her second Oscar for Places in the Heart - "I haven’t had an orthodox career, and I’ve wanted more than anything to have your respect. The first time I didn’t feel it, but this time I feel it, and I can’t deny the fact that you like me, right now, you like me!”.
My post from a few weeks back about the Top 11, I Mean 20, Canadian Word of Mouth Blogs inspired a number of submissions and interest. Now my menagerie is up to 50 Canadian Influential marketing/media bloggers. Here's my criteria for why you're on the list:
- you're Canadian (even though some of you may have been attracted to the our colonizer to the south -perhaps you'll come back when our dollar reaches parity)
- I've read your stuff and at least one post over the last month has made me go - that's brilliantly insightful or clever or helpful
- I purposefully ignored how many comments you have -- I think your content rules whether other people have found it yet or not
- you post frequently enough that I feel somebody is awake at the switch
- with the exception of 1 or 2 of the blogs, it feels like you blog out of passion then as a simple way to acquire business, position or ego - as we all know the passion egg comes before the revenue chicken when it comes to blogging (regrettably I have to include the other 2 because you are insightful even in your self-promotion, there may be others that have fooled me)
- you write broadly enough about marketing, social media and communication issues but not so broadly that I could place you in any blog category and not so narrowly that your blog confuses me in its likely brilliant yet very specialized expertise
My cavaets - I'm missing some of the best - some I haven't seen yet and some I have and in my callousness I've lost your address. You know who are, please respond back (particularly French-Canadian bloggers given my broken Grade 13 french - je ne le comprende pas, malheureusement je ne t'ai pas lu mais je pense que vous ete brilliante - how' I'd do).
I haven't put myself on the list - if 5 of you feel it's justified, I will shamelessly also self promote Buzz Canuck

So when you're writing that blog post at 2:30am at night because: a) your hotel room stinks and you can't get to sleep, b) the kids can't sleep and you might as well post, c) you've finally finished your work day 16 hours later or d) inspiration hits you at the strangest times, and you're wondering if anybody reads or better yet takes away anything from your posts, an opinion of one but the answer is "yes". Cheers and spread the word, Sean

Thanks for putting me on the list!

Mucho gracias, Sean, on behalf of all the femmes. Cheque's in the mail...

All right, I was gonna be quintessentially Canadian and not blow my own horn on this, but everyone else is posting so I will too.
Thanks, man. I am feeling the love.

Hey Sean, thanks for the hit! Great to be in such illustrious company. By all means add Buzz Canuck, it(read you) deserves to be there...

You should definitely be on the list, given the brilliantly insightful, clever, helpful posts on Buzz Canuck.
Definitely like the Metallica font for the Power 50. Reminds of the hilarious scene in the Metallica documentary where they're working on their mission statement!

Today, Canada, tomorrow, the World! [diabolical laugh] Thanks so much, Sean.

Thanks! It's nice to be among my fellow beaver-loving, beer-guzzling, toque-wearing brothers and sisters.
Shall we sing? Come on, everyone together! "Oh Canada!..."

Put yourself on the list... your are as deserving as the rest of the list. And much more humble ;)

I agree with David, that is one hardcore logo... Thanks for outing such a talented list of marketing and PR bloggers. Next step: PowerCon! with the requisite Power 50 T-shirts and accompanying mullets.

I'll take the Power 50 opportunity to remind everyone that John Roberts was once the host of the Pepsi Power Hour, where he got to interview Lee Aaron, Chiliwack and other great CanCon acts.
Canadian media: we do it with spandex and hairspray!

Sean, thanks for including me in your list. I know most of these folks, and now I'll have to check out the names that are new to me.
Now I really feel Canadian, after 22 years in this country! It's great, eh?
One thing -- can you please correct the spelling of my last name in your list? It's Papacosta.
Posted by: Donna Papacosta | September 18, 2006 at 02:05 PM
You are becoming the Mr. Blackwell of Canadian blogging lists. A tip of the hat for counting me in on this great list. A wag of my finger for giving me more feeds to read!
I love the Power 50 font...looks like an Iron Maiden/Metallica album, or maybe I should use a Canadian metal reference, er...Helix/Voivod.
Rock on, Buzz Canuck. rock on.

Sean,
First off thanks for mentionning my blog in your list. Like Michel Leblanc said, there isn't enough English-French blogosphere love out there (and yes I just invented the concept, thank you very much).
Second, if I may, can I point you to a similar list I penned early this year of Quebec communicators who blog? Anyways, it's here.
Regards.

How lovely to make your list again, Sean. It's wonderful to know that my sacrifice - which right now is a social life with real live people - is appreciated by someone.
I would definitely encourage you to add your blog to the list. Would it now change to the Power 51? Or would we just call ourselves the Power Blogger Canuckers?

merci pour votre gentille inscription. Thanks for your nice gesture, It does not happen often that a French Canadian blog happen to be listed in an English canadian blogroll. I appreciate the thought and am humbled by the formidable list you have gathered.
Kindest regards,

Thank you very much for including me, Sean! Just like Ed, I am an "honourary Canadian" - and proud of it. It is great to be part of your list and even greater to see how the Canadian blogosphere keeps growing.

Thanks for including me on such an amazing list of people. We've got a lot to be proud of when it comes to creative thinkers in this country.

Wow. Thanks Sean - I'm incredibly humbled to be even considered among these great names!
I'll try to live up to the billing - keep up the good work,
