The 11 Deadly Sins of Ill Advised Word of Mouth Marketers

11deadlysins_2 Some preliminary results are in from our Buzz Report WOM survey - I've taken an excerpt of one question's results in the hopes that we can attract enough people to take the survey.

As identified by you, here are the top 11 ways to get it wrong with word of mouth:

  • #1 - Being inauthentic   70.7%
  • #2 - Not creating two-way dialogue  51.2%
  • #3 - Lieing about identity i.e. fake blogging 51.2%
  • #4 - Not measuring what happens  46.3%
  • #5 - Not having a strategy   43.9%
  • #6 - No links to achieving business objectives 26.8%
  • #7 - Not changing company practice as a result of it 22.0%
  • #8 - Losing the brand message  14.6%
  • #9 - Not taking enough risk    9.8%
  • #10 - Not spending enough on it    9.8%
  • #11 - Not building it over time    7.3%

If you're at all interested in marketing, communications, innovation, research, media or organization building, grab 15 minutes of your time and take the survey...you'll be the first one to get the toplines and you'll also get a chance to win some of the cooler books on the subject.

For other fellow bloggers, if you have an altruistic bone in your postings, please post about the survey opportunity to your readers. Thanks in advance.
