Kudos to our Commonwealth cousins and some social media work we probably don't hear enough about from one world away.
Here's Laurel Papworth's rendition of top Aussie social marketing efforts:
i) Government - Future of Melbourne (apparently their Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is on Twitter but only following 11 people including a weird cadre of Robert Mugabe, Britney Spears and Darth Vader- don't think our guy Stephen Harper is that esoteric to find himself even near Twitter)
ii) Education - Me.Edu.Au - a collaborative forum for teachers
iii) Venue - Powerhouse Museum
iv) Causes - Getup.org
v) Gaming - Australian military - DefenceJobGames
vi) Crisis Management - Department of Fisheries Avian Flu
vii) Media - Scorched.Tv - User Generated TV program
viii) Fitness - Blackmore's Be your Best Campaign
ix) Retail - Sportsgirl
x) Photos - National Library Picture Austraila Flickr Groups
xi) - Politics - KeepAdelaideAlive.com - David Campbell election campaign
xii) Agency - Fnuky - Like these guys - great orientation
Good forensics by Laurel here and a tip of the hat to other Aussie social-ites Gavin Heaton, Lee Hopkins, Darren Rowse, Gary Hayes , Stephen Collins and ex-pat Paull Young. Would have liked to have seen more for-profit examples of social media here...not too sure if its a question of what rose to the top or the absence of good candidates.
Perhaps we should have some Australia-Canada Social Media awards ceremony/competition called "The Colonies" and meet 1/2 way between us in Hawaii for the ceremony. What think, mates?
