I just returned back from Boston last week having presented my white paper and presentation on "Wiki Brands - Reinventing the Brand in a Consumer Controlled Marketplace" to an all-member meeting of New Paradigm focused on the Net Generation.
First off, Don Tapscott, Anthony Williams, Mike Dover and the full gang at New Paradigm deserve high marks for pulling off one of the smartest and insightful group of speakers (and audiences) I have met in awhile. The thread of open source collaboration, net generational influence, digital and enterprise revolution expertly manifested itself in equally appealing but different presentations.
Particular high commendations go to:
Paul Marsden - I just kept nodding my head in agreement, he gave up a great Hawthorne Effect negotiating ploy, plus he was able to pull off wearing a pair of Banana yellow pants unflinchingly
Joe Pine - although I missed his presentation, he had some great points in his panel discussion on the Experience Economy - I loved his term Infinite ROI
Julie Roehm - a sharp and expressive presenter with a lot of experience to back her perspectives up, somebody I'd like to trade client war stories with at some point in the future
Euan Semple - the transformative force behind a re-energized BBC - some very interesting insight and great one-liners on changing the wheels of inertia in big enterprises
Dr. Stan Kutcher and Matt Kutcher - where science meets web 2.0 - some really heady and pioneering work on mapping the human brain and its interaction with digital technology - this is Nobel laureate calibre work
Neil Howe - more a-ha insights per square minute about the generational divides than any other I've seen on the same topic and memorable "lightbulb" analogies" - a genuine thought provoker on my own generation - Generation X and the ones around me Boomers and Net Generation
Deepak Ramachandran - although I missed his concurrent session on Harnessing the Net Generation Talent Pool, I had a chance to catch up with him in the airport and enjoyed the intellectual banter and debate - what former consultant can claim that they are also an expert in 19th century European history? A force to be reckoned with.
Anya Kamenetz - a precocious and insightful author of Generation Debt with an empathetic anthropological view on the Net Generation - I felt compelled to listen to her - 1/2 because of her content and 1/2 because of the first person insight that she brought to the work
Peter Cheese - Managing Partner, Human Performance - for a seasoned partner, not only did he present himself as a high calibre intellect and change agent (not always the case with consultant potentates), he also appeared earnest and smitten by the bug of Accenture's cause of improving HR capital and management practices worldwide
A sincere thanks to the full New Paradigm team Brendan, Derek, Nikki , Bobbi, Jody, Karolina, Daniela, Samantha, Joan, Paul, John, Alex (for the Wii tutorial) Mike, Anthony and Don for inviting me to participate and then making me look good.
If there are any clients interested in the subsequent programs or getting access to this unit of work - feel free to call New Paradigm's Exec VP Joan Bigham or call 1-800-536-6693. Depending on the nature of your business, the research, papers and supportive workshops may be the springboard you need to bring your organization into the new collaborative and connected economy.
