As much as we frequently rage against the machine that produces too many bad ads, you have to congratulate the industry when they get it right.
As head of marketing for Guinness in Canada in a previous life, I had the advantage of frequently zipping through perhaps the best historical ad reel of any brand on planet earth.
From John Gilroy's famous print ads to some of the best TV ads ever made, Guinness is a brand of great storytelling.
Here are some of my all time favourites below including Britain's favourite ad ever "Surfer" and a new one just airing that apparently was their most expensive ever tapping into the talents of the domino specialists who made Honda Cog and the director who made the viral hit Sony Bravia Balls in the campaign "Good Things Come to Those who Wait".
I'd watch a hell of a lot more TV if I could watch these every night.
Enjoy the 7 ads that follow....visual...emotional...insightful ....smart....single-minded...a simple story well told...Pure Genius.
