Twitter Facts ran a thorough battery test on Canadian Twitterers, the shiny bright microblogging service, here's what they found:
- 3307 active Twitter accounts from Canada (likely twice as many exist given difficulty matching identity to country)
- a Canadian Twitter account for every 10,014 inhabitants
- each Canadian Twitterer follows 23 Twitter accounts and is followed by 25 - considered high in comparison to foreign geographies
- the average Canadian Twitter account had 184 updates but more than 50% of accounts had less than 30 (for perspective the first Twitter account opened in July'06 ands started to really spike in Spring'07
- 38% of all Twitter accounts had an update over the last 7 days

I hate to say this and offend some of my most infleuntial social media peers but I don't see the Twitter value In line with whirlwind of media buzz and euphoria of its users. Twitter still seems to be pretty niche, lacks scale (at least in this country), goes against what I value (always being on) and provides very little depth, which is what I look for in great social media.
Am I missing something here? Will there we a Twitter tipping point? I haven't seen cause for it yet.
